The Project

The Pavilion School needed repainting work performed on the interior and exterior of their main school building. Particular areas of concerns were graffiti markings within the building, which had to be treated with extra attention to detail, care and consideration.

Driven by their need to achieve the maximum outcome on a minimum budget, The Pavilion School engaged our team at Avello to plan a cost-effective approach to the work at hand. We collaborated with faculty members to keep our painting plan as price-conscious as possible, allowing us to deliver all maintenance work required within budget while achieving the outcomes the school desired.

Challenges to maintaining older buildings

The preservation and maintenance of older buildings carries its own set of challenges. One of the difficulties of repainting The Pavilion School was obtaining the right materials for the specific surfaces that needed attention, ensuring that we were making choices that would stand the test of time.

For the exterior of the main school building, we worked with water based acrylic paint to increase the longevity of the coatings. For the interior, a range of acrylic paints were applied including anti-graffiti coatings on the stairwells. This special treatment will allow the school to wash off graffiti when required, in turn reducing the need for continual repainting and saving the school money on maintenance over time.

For The Pavilion School, we understood that there were a few non-negotiables when it came to the project brief. Work had to be completed on time, to budget, and in a way that honoured the architectural integrity of the school building and its surroundings, space that is shared by staff, students and the local community.

As such, we tailored a price-conscious approach and strictly project managed our timeline to ensure we delivered on all desired outcomes.

The outcome

As a result of the meticulous planning and expert project management performed by the team at Avello, The Pavilion School was revived to its former glory on time and within budget. The shared vision for the project was to ensure the school’s run down interior and exterior substrates were repaired, cleaned and revitalised to allow for a far more inspiring learning atmosphere.
